Abu Zarr (r.a.): I heard from the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) that he said: Israfeel boasted to Jibrail – I am better than you.

Jibrail: How are you better than me?

Israfeel: I am the chief of the eight carriers of the Arsh. And I will be the one to blow the trumpet. And I am the most proximate angel to Allah.

Jibrail: I am better than you

Israfeel: How are you better than me?

Jibrail: I am the trustee of Allah on His revelation and I am His messenger to His prophets and messengers. I am the one who causes eclipses. Allah did not chastise any nation but through me.

They presented their dispute to Allah.

Allah revealed to them: Keep quiet, I swear by My Might, I have created someone better than you.

They asked: Did you create someone better than us while we have been created from light?

Allah: Yes and issued a command to lift the veils from before them and veils were lifted and they saw inscribed on the foot of the Arsh: There is no god, except Allah. And Muhammad, Ali, Fatima, Hasan and Husain are the best of the creatures.

Jibrail: My Lord, I ask you by their right on you to make me their servant.

Allah: I have already done so.

The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.): Jibraeel is from us, Ahle Bait (a.s.) and he is our servant.
