    Iran- Birjand, South Khorasan province — Deputy Police Commander of South Khorasan Province said that in a conflict with drug smugglers in the region 11 officers were martyred.

    A 7.2-magnitude earthquake has struck near the Solomon Islands in the western Pacific but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
