The Incident of Pen and Paper from Sunni Sources

On the eve of his demise on Monday, when a group of companions visited the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.), he (s.a.w.a.) ordered them: آتُو’نِی’ بِدَوَاتٍ وَ قِر’طَاسٍ اِک’تُبُ لَکُ…’ کِتَابًا لَن’ تَضِل’ُو’ا بَع’دَہ اَبَدًا ‘Fetch me a pen and a paper so that I write a will for you so that [...]

Tarawih: Sunnah or Bidah?

There are numerous reports in the books of traditions, narrations and Sunnat quoted from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) and the infallible Imams (a.s.) regarding the legality of the recommended prayers of the Ramazan month. Legality here means the governing laws, the number of units and the way of reciting these prayers. It can be concluded that these prayers are allowed.

The point of contention however, is, whether these prayers must be recited individually or in congregation? What is the opinion of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) on this subject? What is the opinion of the Second Caliph – Umar on this subject? Of the two, whose opinion forms the Sunnat and whose opinion leads to innovation and deviation? These and other issues have been discussed threadbare in this article.

Ayat-e-Tatheer: Ahle Bait (a.s.) or Wives of the Prophet (s.a.w.a.)?

(Continued from An Analysis of Ayat-e-Tatheer) It is apparent from narrations of the Prophet’s (s.a.w.a.) wives and senior companions that the Ahle Bait referred to in Surah Ahzaab (33): 33) are Ali (a.s.), Faatemah (a.s.), Hasan (a.s.) and Husain (a.s.). Concept of the Unseen in Islam

Allah, the Most Wise says in His Noble Book: عَالِ… وَأَح’صَى كُلَ’ شَي’ءٍ عَدَدًا ‘The Knower of the unseen! Celebrations: A Sunnah, not Bidah

Love and mastership (Wilayat) and expression of displeasure (Bara’at) are the cornerstones of Islamic teachings. We understand the meaning of empowering goodness and prohibiting evil from them. These were the aims of Imam Husain‘s (a.s.) martyrdom. Who is more unfortunate than a Muslim who neither understands the concepts of wilayat [...]
